{"id":18474,"date":"2025-05-27T14:27:57","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T18:27:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.teacherlists.com\/blog\/?post_type=learning_library&#038;p=18474"},"modified":"2025-07-29T16:26:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T20:26:08","slug":"glow-and-go-the-germ-spread-simulation","status":"publish","type":"learning_library","link":"https:\/\/www.teacherlists.com\/blog\/learning_library\/glow-and-go-the-germ-spread-simulation\/","title":{"rendered":"Germ-X\u00ae Glow and Go: The Germ Spread Simulation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning Areas:<\/strong> Science, Health<br \/>\n<strong>Grades:<\/strong> 2\u20136<br \/>\n<strong>Time:<\/strong> 30 minutes to 1 hour<\/p>\n<p><span>Did<\/span><span> <\/span><span>you<\/span><span> <\/span><span>know<\/span><span> <\/span><span>that<\/span><span> <\/span><span>Germ-X\u00ae<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>Hand<\/span><span> <\/span><span>Sanitizers<\/span><span> <\/span><span>kill<\/span><span> <\/span><span>99<\/span><span>.<\/span><span>99%<\/span><span> <\/span><span>of<\/span><span> <\/span><span>many<\/span><span> <\/span><span>common<\/span><span> <\/span><span>harmful<\/span><span> <\/span><span>germs<\/span><span> <\/span><span>and<\/span><span> <\/span><span>bacteria? <\/span>This fun, hands-on activity encourages healthy habits and awareness of hygiene in everyday classroom interactions. <span>Students will simulate how germs spread through touch and explore the efficacy of handwashing and sanitizing for reducing germ transmission.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Glitter or Glo Germ\u2122 lotion\/powder (or any UV-reactive powder)<\/li>\n<li>Germ-X\u00ae Hand Sanitizer (minimum 60% alcohol)<\/li>\n<li>Access to soap and water<\/li>\n<li>Paper towels<\/li>\n<li>UV flashlight (for use with Glo Germ)<\/li>\n<li>Chart paper or whiteboard for group discussion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Setup (5 minutes):<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Select 1\u20132 students to receive a small amount of glitter or Glo Germ\u2122 on their hands.
