Their initial motivation\u00a0was to find a way to get all their school lists posted in one place that was easily\u00a0accessible for all parents before the annual sales-tax-free holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Before finding TeacherLists, the district communications department was in\u00a0charge of updating every school supply list for the whole district on each of the\u00a0157 different schools\u2019 websites. The task of uploading almost 600 school supply\u00a0lists in a timely way became unmanageable with the resources they had. When a\u00a0staff member heard about TeacherLists, she thought it could be a potential\u00a0solution to their issue. Her hope was that if TeacherLists could take on the task of\u00a0posting the supply lists, their department would be able to spend that time\u00a0concentrating on other back-to-school priorities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Rollout\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nIndividual teachers, staff, and administrators uploaded their lists to the\u00a0TeacherLists site. <strong>TeacherLists became the central hub for all the district\u2019s\u00a0supply lists, meaning the lists would all be uniform in design and content\u00a0across the district.<\/strong> The individual schools handled their own uploads, freeing up\u00a0the communications team to focus on larger district matters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teacherlists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/laptop.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7292\" src=\"https:\/\/www.teacherlists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/laptop.png\" alt=\"Metro Nashville School District page on laptop\" width=\"720\" height=\"437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.teacherlists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/laptop.png 720w, https:\/\/www.teacherlists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/laptop-300x182.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>After the schools had their lists\u00a0posted on TeacherLists, MNPS\u00a0added a section to their district\u00a0website that directed every\u00a0parent to the district page on\u00a0TeacherLists. Once on this page,\u00a0parents were able to search and find individual lists by school\u00a0and grade.<\/li>\n<li>MNPS thought some parents might not know to visit the district site for lists,\u00a0so they went one step further by adding a link to the footer of each school\u2019s\u00a0homepage. Now parents know where to look to find the information no\u00a0matter where their children go to school, and they can easily navigate to the\u00a0TeacherLists district page and find all the lists they need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Results<\/strong><br \/>\nIn the first year, MNPS has had great success with the new list process. It has\u00a0saved time and frustration for the district team, the schools, and the families. The\u00a0MNPS district page had more than 26,000 visitors to their lists on TeacherLists\u00a0during back-to-school time in 2018. This allowed every family a quick and easy\u00a0way to find lists for all their children in one place, even if they had children at\u00a0multiple schools in the district. In fact, more than 8,600 families selected the\u00a0one-click e-commerce shopping option TeacherLists offers in partnership with\u00a0Target, Walmart, Office Depot, and other retailers.\u00a0And the Metro Nashville staff? They loved that they were now able to deal with\u00a0other pressing priorities while parents were getting a much more streamlined\u00a0and convenient back-to-school experience!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Future Plans<\/strong><br \/>\nAs MNPS looks toward their future with TeacherLists, they have a few ideas on\u00a0how the relationship will continue to grow successfully.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u21d2\u00a0<\/span> Easy Updates<br \/>\n<\/strong>Since TeacherLists is now the central hub for all the MNPS lists, teachers and\u00a0administrators will save time updating and sharing their lists each year; the old\u00a0lists are easily copied and updated for next year and years to come.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u21d2\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Early Action<\/strong><br \/>\nThey\u2019re currently working on a plan to encourage teachers and staff to update\u00a0their lists early, with the hope that all lists will be available in the spring so\u00a0parents have access to them throughout the summer.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u21d2\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Across the Board<\/strong><br \/>\nAs a way to further simplify the process, MNPS is considering developing\u00a0districtwide supply lists that would function as the templates for all schools.\u00a0After uploading the \u201cmost needed\u201d items for each grade, individual teachers\u00a0would be able to access their lists and update them with additional items\u00a0specific to their classrooms. TeacherLists is working with the district to gather<br \/>\ndata on these \u201cmost needed\u201d items and to lay out a process for the individual\u00a0teachers.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u21d2\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Accessibility for All<\/strong><br \/>\nTeacherLists has recently signed with Promet Source, a leader in ADA web\u00a0accessibility, to help ensure that the TeacherLists site is ADA compliant for all\u00a0users.
