Being fairly<br \/>\nisolated from larger cities in Texas makes it harder for parents to shop for<br \/>\nback-to-school supplies. This challenge was one of the reasons that GISD<br \/>\nturned to TeacherLists for help.<\/p>\n<p>Two years ago, the district technology director was searching for a <strong>solution that<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>would allow parents to easily shop online for supplies<\/strong> and have them<br \/>\ndelivered to their home (versus parents driving a half hour or more to larger<br \/>\nstores). She also wanted a solution that would allow all the schools to have<br \/>\nuniform lists that could be easily updated each year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rollout<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To start, GISD assigned the list upload process to a few summer interns. The<br \/>\ndistrict asked teachers to forward their current supply list PDFs to the interns,<br \/>\nwho then uploaded the lists to the TeacherLists platform.<br \/>\nThe district found that elementary teachers were happy to provide the lists,<br \/>\nand it was even easier for the middle school since the 6th through 8th grades<br \/>\ngenerally had one generic list for everyone. GISD decided to try the initial<br \/>\nrollout with just the elementary and middle schools before moving onto the<br \/>\nhigh school.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teacherlists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/0219-tl-case-study-ganado-class-list-fb.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-7351\" src=\"https:\/\/www.teacherlists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/0219-tl-case-study-ganado-class-list-fb.png\" alt=\"Ganado School District class list on tablet\" width=\"520\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Results<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After two years of using TeacherLists, GISD\u2019s staff is very happy with how easy<br \/>\nit was to implement and update the new process. <strong>They\u2019ve received all<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>positive reviews from teachers and parents on the new supply list<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>communication model<\/strong>\u2014not only that but parents loved that they were able<br \/>\nto purchase supplies online and have them delivered right to their door. The<br \/>\nbest part is the change actually made the list creation and communication<br \/>\nprocess easier for the district staff, and the interns who worked on the list<br \/>\nupload appreciated that TeacherLists was even easier to update and share<br \/>\nthan the traditional PDFs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Future Plans<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As GISD considers how to improve upon their TeacherLists implementation,<br \/>\ntheir main focus is growing its impact.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>\u21d2<\/strong><\/span> <strong>Getting the High School on Board<\/strong><br \/>\nGISD will encourage the high school to join other district schools<br \/>\nin using TeacherLists; their ultimate goal is to provide a single and<br \/>\nconsistent method for the school community to share and find<br \/>\nsupply lists.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>\u21d2<\/strong><\/span> <strong>Delegating List Maintenance<\/strong><br \/>\nNow that the lists are posted, GISD plans to give individual schools and<br \/>\nteachers the ability to upload and maintain their own lists, utilizing the<br \/>\nTeacherLists Admin function.
