For some of the links, we\u2019ve indicated the most appropriate age group.<\/p>\n<h4>Classroom or homeschool resources<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nctsn.org\/sites\/default\/files\/resources\/addressing_race_and_trauma_in_the_classroom_educators.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Addressing Race and Trauma in the Classroom: A Resource for Educators from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network<\/a> is a comprehensive guide on racial trauma and historical trauma, among other topics.<\/li>\n<li>Education Week Teacher recently compiled a blog post called <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.edweek.org\/teachers\/teaching_now\/2020\/06\/15_classroom_resources_for_discussing_racism_policing_and_protest.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">15 Classroom Resources for Discussing Racism, Policing, and Protest<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The National Museum of African American History and Culture website <a href=\"https:\/\/nmaahc.si.edu\/learn\/talking-about-race\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Talking About Race<\/a> has resources for educators, parents and caregivers, and anyone wanting to learn more about equity.<\/li>\n<li>The National Education Association\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/neaedjustice.org\/black-lives-matter-school-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Black Lives Matter @ School\u2014Resources<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/neaedjustice.org\/racial-justice-is-education-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Racial Justice is Educational Justice<\/a> include resources to help facilitate conversations about race, classroom-appropriate lesson plans, and guides on how to have tough conversations with peers and students.<\/li>\n<li>The Center for Racial Justice in Education shares <a href=\"https:\/\/centerracialjustice.org\/resources\/resources-for-talking-about-race-racism-and-racialized-violence-with-kids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">resources for talking about race, racism, and racialized violence<\/a> with kids.<\/li>\n<li>Teaching Tolerance has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolerance.org\/moment\/racism-and-police-violence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">resources for teaching about race, racism, and police violence<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The National Association of School Psychologists has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasponline.org\/resources-and-publications\/resources-and-podcasts\/school-climate-safety-and-crisis\/health-crisis-resources\/countering-coronavirus-stigma-and-racism-tips-for-teachers-and-other-educators\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tips for teachers on countering coronavirus stigma and racism<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The American School Counselor Association has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schoolcounselor.org\/Publications-Research\/Publications\/Free-ASCA-Resources\/Anti-Racism-Resources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">links to extensive resources on race and equity<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Books<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>embracerace.org lists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.embracerace.org\/resources\/26-childrens-books-to-support-conversations-on-race-racism-resistance?fbclid=IwAR0LSG3K-JAUJm3DgD6NzR0jwt9BK8VuyUPmUGfulj7mh0S9LBGBM6NNGks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">31 children\u2019s books to support conversations on race, racism and resistance<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Bounceback parenting blog has a <a href=\"https:\/\/bouncebackparenting.com\/resources-for-talking-to-kids-about-race-and-racism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">curated list of resources including books, activities, and media<\/a> for talking to kids of all ages about race and racism.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thebrownbookshelf.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Brown Bookshelf<\/a> promotes awareness of children\u2019s books (picture, middle grade, and young adult) written and illustrated by people of color.<\/li>\n<li>New York Family recently compiled a list called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorkfamily.com\/resources-and-books-to-help-parents-educate-themselves-on-racism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Resources and Books to Help Parents Educate Themselves on Racism<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A free e-book from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tolerance.org\/sites\/default\/files\/general\/beyond_golden_rule.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Teaching Tolerance, Beyond the Golden Rule: A Parent\u2019s Guide to Preventing and Responding to Prejudice<\/a> has stories and conversation starters for ages 2-5, 6-12, and 13 and up.<\/li>\n<li>A New Jersey teacher started this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scarymommy.com\/teacher-viral-list-children-books-race\/\">viral list of children&#8217;s books about race<\/a> on the popular website ScaryMommy.com.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve rounded up classroom resources for discussing race relations, protests, violence, diversity, and activism with your students.
