Sharing your lists with parents is easy to do on your school or classroom website, or via Social Media (click here for more info). But since you probably message with your parents on a regular basis anyways, why not share your lists via a message as well?
Remind
Do you use Remind to communicate with your parents? Why not share your Supply Lists and Wish Lists using it as well ?
Simply sign in to your Remind.com account. If you have multiple classes, navigate to the class you are working with.
Select Messages
Then write out your message to parents, copying & pasting the url link from your TeacherLists page into the message to share.
To find the url link:
1. In a different tab of your browser, open your TeacherLists page to the list that you want to share with parents.
2. With your cursor, highlight the url address and click copy.
3. Then paste this link into your message, next to the text that you wrote to your parents.
Finally, click send. Your message will go out to your parents with the your TeacherLists link in it.
With Remind, you can send the message right away and also schedule future messages. Send the list out to parents as soon as the list is ready, then, schedule reminders to go out periodically over the summer so parents can easily the find the list and students will be prepared the first day.
Google Classroom
You already know that Google Classroom helps to make your classroom more efficient. Don’t forget to incorporate TeacherLists into your plans as well!
To share your list with parents, simply create an Announcement by clicking the “+” sign in the bottom right hand of the page, and then Create announcement
Select the classes you want the announcement to go to, write up the text of your announcement, add a topic if desired and then, add the link to your supply list.
To find the url link to add to your message:
Once this is posted, an email is sent to your students and their parent/guardians. The announcement also remains on your class page for future reference
OR if you are already in your TeacherLists School Supply List, simply hit the green “Share” button in the top right hand corner of the page
and navigate to the Google Classroom icon
You will then be taken to your google classroom page where you can Share to Classroom.
Choose Class, then Choose Action (Make an announcement) and then click GO (blue button lower right of page).
Then, write your message, choose your topic and send to students/parents.
Class Dojo
If you use Class Dojo to communicate with parents, why not use it for your TeacherLists Supply Lists as well?
Simply log into your Class Dojo account, and click Messages to send a message and the link to your TeacherLists page to your parents.
Your parents will receive a notification and the message via the Class Dojo app on their phone or simply by logging into their account.
Other Messaging Services
You can also send the link to your TeacherLists supply / wish lists via other messaging services such as Talking Points and many others as well.
